Kent
In the world of specialty coffee, Kent is considered a classic variety with deep roots in India and a significant genetic legacy. It contributes to the lineage of high-quality hybrids like S795, Catimor, and various modern experimental crosses.
When grown above 1,200 meters and carefully cultivated, Kent can yield a cup with gentle acidity, medium body, and a clean finish. Flavor notes tend to lean toward herbal, spiced, and light woody characteristics, making it well-suited for light to medium roasts.
While Kent may not dominate flavor competitions today, it remains an icon of transition—featured in heirloom revival projects and valued as a genetic cornerstone in breeding programs aimed at combining resilience and quality.
