Orange Gesha
Orange Gesha is an Arabica coffee variety created by crossing two parent varieties: Gori Gesha and Bourbon Orange.
It is easily recognized by its orange-colored ripe cherries, inherited from Bourbon Orange, unlike the more common red-fruited Gesha types. In the cup, Orange Gesha is known for its vibrant floral-citrus profile, with notes of jasmine, orange blossom, bergamot, pink grapefruit, apricot, and pineapple. It offers a light body, silky texture, bright balanced acidity, and a delicate tea-like finish.
Orange Gesha requires demanding growing conditions, including elevations above 1,500 meters, mineral-rich volcanic soil, and strong day-to-night temperature variation. Because of this, it is only cultivated on a limited number of specialized specialty coffee farms. One of the most notable examples is Nueva Alianza in Santa Teresa, La Convención, Cusco, Peru and managed by the Dwight Aguilar family.
