About

Finca Soledad was formed in 2010 by the efforts of founder Pepe Jijon and his father. They decided to buy this land to fulfill the expectation of creating more value for the coffee supply chain in Ecuador in general and specialty coffee in this country in particular.

Finca Soledad is located near the Colombian border in the Intag Valley region, Imbabura province. The farm has a total area of more than 120 hectares, surrounded by high mountains at 1515 meters above sea level. The ecological conditions here are maintained in the most pristine condition, with many endemic tree varieties, extensive river systems, groundwater, and high-quality soil.

The farm only focuses on producing coffee varieties Gesha, Sydra, and Mejorada. At the same time, Finca Soledad also researched and improved other potential coffee varieties.

Sustainable Development

Finca Soledad is meticulous in cultivating and developing coffee trees on the natural foundation inherent in the growing area. They strive to transform and improve the quality of their products, delivering coffees with a subtle flavor and full of identity. Currently, the farm only uses about 4 hectares to develop coffee at the expense of output to maintain the shared ecosystem.

In addition to sustainable coffee farming, limiting the impact on the general ecosystem, Finca Soledad also uses local labor sources, limiting the effects of underemployment on the lives of local people. The farm provides complex families and single mothers with work and support, creating a solid and balanced ecosystem.

Founder: JOSE IGNACIO JIJON (PEPE)

Becoming a factor in making the country’s shared prosperity and promoting the development of the local and international coffee industry is the driving force for Pepe’s daily efforts. He believes that technological development and economic equity will significantly impact overall sustainability.
