VALUE JOURNEY
The Guji region is celebrated for its mineral-rich volcanic soil, varied altitudes, and abundant vegetation, forming distinct microclimates together. In recent years, Guji has risen to prominence as a top source of high-qualitycoffee, recognized for its delicate, fruity flavor profile.
The Shakiso washing station at Tero Farm was founded to nurture a sustainable coffee industry in Guji. Just six years ago, Guji had a relatively small presence in this coffee landscape. The change began when young investors started launching processing facilities in the region. From their initial ventures in the local coffee market in 2010 to becoming a benchmark for responsible coffee farming by 2016, the project has experienced impressive growth. Backed by robust economic insights and a profound passion for coffee, Shakiso Tero Outgrowers has swiftly positioned itself as a significant player in the industry.
UNIQUE MODEL
The Shakiso washing station at Tero Farm functions through a unique partnership management program. In contrast to typical private washing stations in Guji that simply buy coffee cherries from farmers, this station mandates that farmers enroll in an extensive registration and training program. This initiative involves thorough mapping of each farm and offers training in agronomy and processing methods. A committed partnership relations team meticulously oversees all record-keeping.
VISION AND DEVELOPMENT
Shakiso Tero Outgrowers has established a comprehensive and systematic operation focusing on five core aspects of the coffee value chain. First, they implement a stringent traceability system that allows for detailed tracking and documentation of the entire journey of the product. Alongside this, the community rigorously enforces HACCP-compliant quality and food safety management systems, ensuring all processes meet the highest standards.
In farming, they adhere to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), with particular emphasis on production and post-harvest processes. These initiatives are integrated into a broader sustainable development strategy where environmental factors and social responsibility are inseparable from corporate culture.
Lastly, guided by a customer-centric philosophy, Shakiso Tero Outgrowers actively anticipates market demands and develops tailored solutions to meet evolving needs.
