Arabigo
Arabigo is the local name for Typica, a foundational Arabica cultivar with a rich history of global cultivation.
The morphology of Arabigo is fairly easy to identify: large, oval-shaped beans with a thin skin and smooth texture. In the Specialty coffee world, Arabigo is prized for its stability, being easy to manage in both roasting and brewing, and offering a well-balanced cup structure.
Although not known for strong disease resistance, Arabigo adapts well to a range of climates and soil conditions, and maintains consistent productivity. With proper care, it remains a popular choice among smallholder farmers in countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru.
