Dewevrei
Dewevrei, or Coffea liberica var. dewevrei, is a unique subspecies of the Liberica coffee variety, known for its stark contrast to traditional Arabica and Robusta.
The plant is highly drought-tolerant, disease-resistant, and thrives in tropical climates with slightly acidic soils, ideally at elevations between 600-1,300 meters. Dewevrei coffee offers a complex sensory experience, featuring woody and smoky notes, along with sharp acidity and hints of tropical fruit.
Although it accounts for only a small portion of global coffee production, this rare variety is gaining attention in the Specialty coffee community for its distinctive flavor profile, unique biological traits, and promising potential for sustainable cultivation in the years ahead.
