Double Shot
Double Shot refers to an espresso brewing method that uses twice the amount of coffee compared to a single shot, resulting in a richer body and more complex flavor profile. In specialty coffee, the coffee dose is often increased to 18-21g, compared to the standard 14g, with a precisely controlled extraction ratio to highlight regional characteristics and processing methods.
Beyond enhancing intensity, this method also helps balance viscosity, texture, and mouthfeel, while extending the aftertaste. Each shot is meticulously calibrated to achieve optimal harmony, reflecting the refined art of coffee appreciation.
The double shot is particularly popular in Australia, the U.S., and Northern Europe, where coffee culture emphasizes bold flavors and unaltered taste profiles. In Australia and New Zealand, it is the standard espresso shot, whereas in the U.S. and Northern Europe, using a larger coffee dose allows for better expression of terroir, aligning with the trend of light roasting and precision extraction in the specialty coffee scene.
