Ibrik
Ibrik is a traditional coffee brewing pot with a wide base, narrow neck, long handle, and typically made of copper or stainless steel. Originating from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, it has been gaining attention in the specialty coffee industry.
Although once underrated, the Ibrik can produce delicate and complex coffee. Since 2009, it has been featured in competitions and exhibitions organized by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), solidifying its place in the world of specialty coffee.
Applying specialty coffee standards to Ibrik brewing requires precise control over variables such as brew ratio, water quality, temperature, and extraction time. Specialty coffee brewed with an Ibrik is typically roasted light to medium to preserve bright acidity, fruity, floral, and caramel notes. Over-roasting should be avoided to maintain the refined characteristics of specialty coffee.
