Ristretto
Ristretto is one of the most intense brewing methods in specialty coffee, using less water and a shorter extraction time than a standard Espresso shot. The term “Ristretto” in Italian means “restricted” or “shortened,” highlighting the rapid extraction process that preserves the most concentrated and refined flavors of the coffee beans.
Although it has a thicker body than a regular Espresso shot, Ristretto contains less caffeine while emphasizing natural sweetness, gentle acidity, and a lingering aftertaste—all packed into a small yet deeply flavorful sip. This method is widely embraced in Italy and across Europe, where coffee culture values precision, balance, and the purest expression of a coffee’s character.
