I. Kefyalew Deressa #0004 - A Voice of Innovation from Ethiopia
The Genji Challa washing station stands as a symbol of innovation and development in Ethiopia’s coffee industry, collaborating with 250 local smallholder farmers. Under Kefyalew Deressa’s management, the station creates opportunities for high-quality, transparently sourced coffee from the Gera region to reach broader markets, ensuring competitive prices and sustainable livelihoods for its members. They skillfully blend traditional methods with modern innovations, producing coffees that maintain their regional character while meeting the most stringent international market standards.

Ethiopia’s complex export policies and socio-political challenges create significant barriers for both producers and green coffee exporters. Through their understanding of legal frameworks and commitment to preserving the authentic value of each coffee lot, Genji Challa has partnered with Crop to Cup Coffee Importers to overcome local challenges, making their exceptional specialty coffee more accessible to global customers.
Kefyalew Deressa #0004 embodies the values of dedicated effort and sustainable community responsibility from every perspective. Join us in discovering the unique flavor notes from Ethiopia, where each drop of coffee tells a story of resilience and innovation from passionate farmers.
II. Muburi AB #0425 - Water Conservation Lessons from Kenya
Water scarcity remains a critical challenge across African nations like Ethiopia, Kenya, and Rwanda, particularly impacting coffee processing operations. In these regions, traditional wet processing methods face significant constraints. However, through sustainable farming practices, local adaptation, and the embrace of advanced technology, farms have developed innovative solutions.

The Muburi washing station stands as an exemplary model of adaptation and sustainable development in the coffee industry amid global water scarcity challenges. Here, where clean water is a precious resource, farmers have developed a unique wet processing protocol that optimizes water usage while maintaining exceptional coffee quality.
Operating under strict ethical guidelines that prohibit child labor, forced labor, discrimination, and hunting, Muburi washing station demonstrates their commitment to local community responsibility and their bold vision of bringing transparently sourced coffee to the world. These aren’t merely paper commitments but have become embedded in their DNA, from cultivation to processing, from personnel management to community development.
The synergy between Kenyan farmers’ sustainable cultivation methods and commitment to supply chain transparency has created a product that excels not only in quality but also embodies humanitarian values and environmental responsibility.
III. Kinini Village #23014 - An Empowerment Journey in Rwanda
Kinini Village transcends the typical coffee farm model – it’s a comprehensive social project reshaping Rwanda’s future.
With 48 members from Tumba village, 85% of whom are women, the farm demonstrates a strong commitment to gender equality in the coffee industry through training programs and direct investment in education and healthcare development projects.

The talented and passionate women here have developed a management system transparent down to the smallest detail. All production information, from cultivation to harvest, processing to distribution, is meticulously documented and monitored.
What sets Kinini Village apart is how they’ve transformed coffee production into a platform for women’s empowerment while maintaining community ethical values. By entrusting women with management and decision-making roles, the farm has created a unique sustainable development model where coffee quality and social progress go hand in hand.
IV. Volcan Valley #24223 - The Art of Preserving Original Flavors
Evolved from its predecessor Ninety Plus, the Volcan Valley project inherits and develops based on a consistent, integrated strategic approach. Focusing on specialty coffee quality and enhancing the unique value of the growing region, Volcan Valley #24223 coffee fully embodies the value of continuous effort, serving as a perfect testament to the art of preserving original flavors in specialty coffee production.

Using a unique shade-drying process, each coffee bean is treated as an artistic masterpiece. After processing, the coffee is dried under the shade of ancient trees near the Barú volcano until reaching standard moisture levels. This process takes longer than traditional methods like sun-drying or mechanical drying, as sunlight exposure is limited and drying beds are deliberately spaced to ensure consistency.
Though this process demands more time and effort than conventional methods, this meticulous handling is key to maintaining consistent coffee quality from farm to cup, regardless of geographical distance.
V. Sudan Rume #00046 - A Masterpiece of Consistency
Sudan Rume #00046 represents an exceptional story of combining technology with coffee production artistry. Through rigorous management systems and continuous improvement processes, the farm maintains not only consistent quality but continuously raises its standards each harvest season.

Every coffee lot undergoes strict quality control, with transparent information tracking from cultivation to processing.
Las Margaritas farm, part of Café Granja La Esperanza, has particularly excelled in implementing technology for quality monitoring and assessment, enabling optimization at every production stage. This approach ensures not only consistency in quality but also establishes a foundation for long-term sustainable development.
VI. Finca Soledad Sydra - A Tale of Social Responsibility and Innovation
Finca Soledad Sydra exemplifies how a coffee farm can simultaneously produce high-quality products while creating positive social impact.

Under Pepe’s leadership, the farm has built a unique business model where social responsibility stands equal with production goals. Their priority in employing single mothers from the region, providing stable income and good working conditions, has created positive community changes.
Their willingness to embrace new experiments, from cultivation techniques to processing methods, has led to continuous product quality improvement. Each Finca Soledad Sydra coffee bean carries not only distinctive flavors but also a story of innovation and social responsibility.
II. Nueva Alianza Pacamara #4040 - Where Nature Meets Science
Located near the Tropic of Cancer, Nueva Alianza Pacamara #4040 exemplifies optimal utilization of natural conditions in coffee cultivation.

The farm’s southwest-facing slopes are cleverly designed to receive optimal sunlight, creating ideal conditions for coffee growth. Their deep understanding of the organic relationship between terrain, climate, and plant growth has enabled the production of superior quality coffee.
Beyond leveraging natural advantages, the farm applies scientific cultivation methods to optimize yield and quality. Each farming decision is based on careful research of plant characteristics and environmental conditions, accumulated over many harvests.
VIII. Palestina Gesha #3485 - An Ecological Restoration Journey in Peru
From Peru’s Cajamarca region, Palestina Gesha #3485 represents not just outstanding specialty coffee but also symbolizes environmental restoration and regeneration.

Facing severe deforestation consequences, Finca La Palestina has implemented a comprehensive green revolution. By combining coffee cultivation with native tree planting, they’ve created an ideal environment for coffee development while restoring the local ecosystem.
The farm has developed a multi-level cultivation system where coffee grows under native tree canopies. This method not only protects coffee plants from harsh weather conditions but creates a diverse, balanced, and sustainable ecosystem.
This example of balancing economic development with environmental protection aligns perfectly with XLIII Coffee’s vision for specialty coffee. The story of ecological restoration in Cajamarca will be shared during our cupping session as inspiration for how the coffee industry can positively contribute to ecosystem protection and restoration.
