According to SCA, the new SCA Skills Diploma will provide recognition and direct relevance to specific jobs in the market. The system includes four types of certificates: SCA Café Certificate, SCA Roaster Certificate, SCA Coffee Trade Certificate, SCA Sustainable Coffee Certificate.

How to get SCA's new SCA Skills Diploma

Four certificates will correspond to the requirements of each field at each level from basic to advanced. To earn SCA’s new SCA Skills Diploma, students need to combine study and technical improvement within the specific core of each category’s required courses. As follows:

For SCA Café Diploma

The certificate is for individuals who wish to possess administrative abilities in creating, preparing and promoting specialty coffee experiences to customers. In addition, through the curriculum, students will emphasize the role of retailers in promoting a sustainable coffee industry and how to share with customers and the community. Required courses include:

– Coffee Skills Program such as Barista Skills, Brewing, Roasting, Sensory Skills

– Coffee Sustainability Program

– Coffee Technicians Program related to water and other elements in brewing.

For SCA Roastery Diploma

This certificate course is designed to provide individuals with leadership abilities in the development, production and quality assurance of roasted coffee; and discuss with customers and colleagues about the roaster’s role in promoting a more sustainable coffee industry. Required courses include:

– Coffee Sustainability Program
