Natural conditions
Belonging to a particular stratigraphic area – the western slopes of Barú volcano, Ninety Plus Coffee Estates has specialized farming conditions. It is the first and only place to cultivate the famous Ethiopian coffee variety under the sustainable intercropping model.
The forest ecosystem is maintained in its original state and minimizes the impact of humans and the planting process on the surrounding environment. This pristine growing area features an extensive shade tree system, a diverse trail network, rich flora and fauna, and other special growing conditions.
Ninety Plus has created an excellent farming system based on sound natural conditions, creating high-quality coffee products with unique flavors.
Core Values
To bring coffee closer to consumers, the Ninety Plus team always strives to share the corporate culture, providing it fully and directly to everyone. From there, take the standard development momentum and spread the actual value of innovation and farming transformation, as well as the sustainable coffee farming transformation model.
Ninety Plus core values:
Taste: Ninety Plus constantly invests in processing technology to understand and exploit the variety of coffee flavors, providing high-quality ingredients for experiences that exceed expectations.
Humanity: The human resources team is the nucleus for creating new changes for the development process of Ninety Plus. They build the crew of the future with good welfare policies such as providing a legal education and living system, focusing on nature, and protecting the environment.
Ecology: Ninety Plus always strives to expand the green space with its program of afforestation and cultivation of shade-loving coffee varieties. At the expense of a high average yield, Ninety Plus works for the overall sustainability of the ecosystem, preserving biodiversity with smaller batches of products.
Cultivation area
Ninety Plus has two main farming areas: Gesha Estates and Barú Estates. Each region has different natural conditions and farming orientations. However, the general direction is toward providing a high-quality and sustainable coffee source for the community.
GESHA ESTATES
Ninety Plus founder Joseph Brodsky bought a large area of land totaling more than 200 hectares in 2009. With the orientation of setting up a cattle breeding area and developing native crops, he strives to create a good growth foundation for developing Gesha coffee varieties from Ethiopia.
Ninety Plus Gesha Estates is designed to create a standard growing environment similar to the natural conditions inherent in Ethiopia, where the unique Gesha coffee variety grows and develops. The thermal background and biological factors here reach a high level, allowing this 100-year-old coffee variety to grow and produce high-quality coffee beans with outstanding flavor.
With a significant yield in the first crop in 2014, the Ninety Plus producer’s coffee in the Gesha Estates area has established itself in terms of taste and foundation with five World Brewers Cups in six consecutive years.
With a sustainable orientation and the ambition to create a source of selected and quality raw materials, Ninety Plus has proven the value and success of the sustainable farming model, producing high-value coffee based on regenerating forests and maintaining the ecology of the planting area.
BARÚ ESTATES
Ninety Plus Barú Estates is named after the Barú volcano, which has the wealthiest land resources. The soil here is rich in nutrients and minerals because it was deposited by seven volcanic eruptions on the western slope.
Ninety Plus Barú Estates stretch around the crater adjacent to Volcán Barú National Park. Microclimate conditions in this area vary by altitude. Plants, flora, and microorganisms also multiply, diversely, and outstandingly.
Ninety Plus Barú Estates was acquired in 2019 and developed sustainably, becoming the future of high-quality coffee based on technology. Coffee trees become part of the forest ecosystem and fully express the flavor of the growing area in each product in the shade of pristine trees.
VOLCAN VALLEY - A NEW CHAPTER
In 2024, Joseph Brodsky – founder of Ninety Plus introduced the Volcan Valley brand, shifting from fixed coffee lines to Lot-based production to increase market accessibility while preserving core values. Located in the iconic Barú volcano region, with over 1000 hectares of farmland and 20 years of experience, Volcan Valley specializes in Gesha and other exceptional varieties, managing the entire process from cultivation to export.
Inheriting the philosophy from Ninety Plus, they focus on biodiversity maximization, farmer empowerment, and flavor experience innovation. Volcan Valley is not just a coffee production site but a pristine natural paradise featuring waterfalls, hot springs, ancient forests, and indigenous cultural sites. Their refined wet processing method creates pure, bright flavors with distinctive citrus and floral notes.
