May gently brushes against the rhythm of life, as the earth and sky quietly change their hues. Before spring gives way to summer, XLIII Coffee invites you to embark on a new journey with our May Discovery Subscription – a journey to explore the essence of nature through the pristine and authentic layers of Specialty coffee.
Two Distinct Profiles to Welcome the Changing Season
For this May’s Discovery Subscription, XLIII Coffee brings you two captivating coffees: Potosi Sidra #0285 and Musa Abalulesa #0001. Though they hail from distant lands, both coffees beat in harmony with the hearts of farmers and workers who honor the true value of coffee.
Musa Abalulesa #0001 – Radiant with Resolve from the Ethiopian Highlands
Belonging to the Specialty category at XLIII Coffee, Musa Abalulesa #0001 represents the rustic yet vibrant beauty born from perseverance – the unwavering effort to create authentic quality from the earth itself. Grown in a small village high in the Goma region of Ethiopia at 2,100 meters above sea level, this lot is the result of collaboration between 21 smallholder farmers, led by Musa AbaLulesa, a second-generation coffee grower carrying forward his father’s legacy while nurturing a vision for the future of his homeland.
Hand-harvested and carefully washed, this coffee preserves its clarity and natural charm. In each cup unfolds a vivid portrait of the highland landscape: blooming lilies, smooth mango, zesty lemon, golden apricot, and a lingering honey-like aftertaste. The cup structure shines with bright acidity, deep sweetness, and a juicy, refreshing texture.
Musa Abalulesa #0001 is a shining representative of the Specialty category, which celebrates purity, sustainability, and honesty in every bean.
Potosi Sidra #0285 – Pristine and Layered with Human Effort from Colombia
In contrast to Musa Abalulesa’s rustic charm, Potosi Sidra #0285 is part of our Luxury Competition collection – where XLIII Coffee presents cups that verge on perfection. This lot was grown and harvested in Caicedonia, nestled within Colombia’s UNESCO-listed Coffee Cultural Landscape. It carries the story of a land striving for sustainable growth and identity preservation amid nature’s ongoing shifts: increased rainfall, fluctuating temperatures, and the influence of El Niño and La Niña.
A flavor memoir in its own right, Potosi Sidra #0285 reveals layers of sweetness reminiscent of early-ripened fruit and rich malic acidity that evokes the refreshing essence of mangosteen – a hallmark of Caicedonia terroir.
At first, the coffee offers delicate notes of jasmine, sapodilla, and subtle mangosteen. When hot, its flavors bloom with soursop and sapodilla, uplifted by a bouquet of pristine floral notes. As it cools, the cup transitions into juicy melon, fresh mangosteen, and crisp green apple. Finally, when cold, a gentle whisper of apricot lingers – like a graceful pause. The finish is long and soft, infused with honey and white florals, leaving a tender, juicy impression on the palate.
Potosi Sidra #0285 stands tall as a symbol of Luxury Competition, where creativity and craftsmanship converge to create nearly flawless coffee experiences.
Why Did XLIII Coffee Choose These Two Coffees for May?
May may not be the most vibrant time of the year, but it is a moment of quiet significance. It’s when nature seems to slow down, preparing for a new life cycle. In many coffee-growing regions, May is the season of sowing – when seeds silently settle deep into the earth, carrying hope for a sustainable harvest.
Just as nature nurtures new life, XLIII Coffee plants a message of resilience, hope, and deep belief in sustainable values through this month’s Discovery Subscription.
Musa Abalulesa #0001, bearing the number “0001”, symbolizes a new beginning – like a young sprout rising from the ancient soil of Ethiopia. Its vibrant, bold, yet unhurried flavor structure embodies the core values of pure, honest, and sustainable Specialty coffee.
Potosi Sidra #0285, on the other hand, is a matured chapter in the flavor journal of Luxury Competition – where each cup borders on perfection. Not flashy, but deeply emotional, each flavor layer is a distillation of nature’s gifts and extraordinary human effort.
One is for awakening and blossoming – like stepping into a new journey filled with curiosity and energy.
One is for stillness and reflection – to delve deeper into the essence of pure beauty.
Different in tone, yet united in offering a more profound, complete experience of Specialty coffee. And just like that, between those who cherish flavor and those who quietly create it – XLIII Coffee hopes to offer you two reflections of the soul, helping you reconnect with yourself, with nature, and with what truly lasts.
Because choosing coffee is choosing a way of life – slowing down to live more deeply.
Wishing you a fulfilling Specialty Coffee experience this May. See you on the next chapter of Discovery Subscription in June!

Nueva Alianza Pacamara #4733 – The essence of Cusco with elegant jasmine notes
Nueva Alianza Pacamara #4733 is a testament to the miraculous terroir and dedicated cultivation of the renowned Cusco region. The combination of the characteristic Pacamara bean size and ideal altitude has forged a flavor profile of immense sophistication and depth. From the very first moment, this lot captivates with its elegant jasmine notes, radiating a gentle, pure fragrance akin to a flower blooming in the morning dew.

Nueva Alianza Orange Gesha #4737 – An expedition of recessive genetic traits into the sensory realm
In a world of authenticity, Nueva Alianza Orange Gesha #4737 represents the proud emergence of rare biological traits often obscured by nature’s universality. Carrying a recessive genetic code, Lot #4737 embarks on an “expedition” into the connoisseur’s mind, where record-breaking fructose concentrations are released to perfectly fill every sensory gap with absolute smoothness and purity.
Through washed processing and extremely-light roasting, vibrant citrus nuances and ethereal floral notes, once hidden deep within the genetic structure, now manifest with power, transforming the tasting experience into a journey of ontological completion, where the rarity of recessive genes finally reigns supreme in flavor.

Nueva Alianza Maragogipe #4735 – The “Giant” at the center of attention
Amidst a world of countless specialty coffee beans, Nueva Alianza Maragogipe #4735 emerges as a symbol of grandeur, instantly commanding attention with its distinct appearance. Affectionately dubbed the “Giant” for its impressively mutated “Elephant Bean” size, lot #4735 from Nueva Alianza stands as a testament to nature’s wonders in the Cusco region. Yet, its true allure extends far beyond its imposing exterior; hidden within these colossal beans lies a gentle “soul” blooming with pure floral and crystalline fruit notes.
Nueva Alianza Sidra #4736 – The sweetness born from the resilience of the Andes
Unlike the airy aromatic layers so often encountered, a cup of Nueva Alianza Sidra #4736 takes command of the palate through a distinctly physical sense of “weight” the creamy richness of Blueberry Yogurt and the dense, syrupy sweetness of a spoonful of Berry Jam. This shimmering, viscous body, achieved through the traditional Natural process, is the compressed result of the harsh cold currents that sweep across the Andes at 1,820 meters above sea level. At a deeper level, the sheer weight carried within this cup becomes a beautiful metaphor for the iron discipline and resilience of producer Dwight Aguilar Masías a man who has spent his entire life holding his ground, protecting an inherited landscape against the brutal upheavals of time and circumstance.

Ziriguidum #2 – A Proud Rhythm from the Heart of the Cerrado Savanna
In the native language of Brazil, Ziriguidum is an onomatopoeia capturing the powerful, frenetic rhythm of Samba percussion. Yet, as the namesake for the Ziriguidum #2 – Masterpieces Auction 2025 lot, this rhythm takes on a quieter, more profound meaning. It perfectly encapsulates a beautiful natural paradox: the flourishing of the fragile, caffeine-deficient Laurina variety amidst the harsh, arid expanse of the Cerrado savanna.
Rejecting all artificial fermentation techniques, producer Daterra Coffee preserves this pure genetic code through a meticulous Natural process, guided only by the primal sun. To taste Ziriguidum #2 is not merely to experience a sparkling flavor profile; it is an exploration of nature’s resilience, ecological restoration, and the absolute pinnacle of artisanal craft.

Crafted from rounded Peaberry beans – the convergence of the highlands’ essence and vital energy, this coffee lot delivers a deep, sweet purity interwoven with pristine aromas and a persistent aftertaste. Behind every cup lies a commitment to the “medical ethics” spirit, manifested through kindness from sustainable cultivation to meticulous processing, honoring both health and the original value of the coffee bean.
