Q Grader is a professional certification in the coffee industry, awarded by the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) to individuals who pass a rigorous exam consisting of 19 specialized tests such as cupping, flavor identification, and roast defects, according to SCA standards. The certification is valid for three years and needs to be recertified to maintain its validity.

There are two types of Q Grader certifications: Q Arabica Grader and Q Robusta Grader. The Q Arabica Grader is specifically for professionals who assess the quality of Arabica coffee, verifying their ability to grade and score coffee according to specialty coffee standards.

Q Grader certified experts play a crucial role in the specialty coffee supply chain, ensuring quality control, verifying coffee meets Specialty Grade standards, and differentiating products in the market.
