Java
In the specialty coffee world, Java is recognized as a high-quality heirloom variety with deep Ethiopian roots, belonging to the Ethiopia Landrace group. Like Geisha, it originated from the Abysinia population, giving it a unique place in the genetic landscape of Arabica.
Java is particularly appreciated for its strong resistance to disease, low nutrient requirements, and adaptability to small-scale, sustainable farming. It performs exceptionally well in both Central America and Africa, with standout origins including Costa Rica and Cameroon.
When cultivated at ideal altitudes, Java yields a cup with refined structure—balanced acidity, a silky mouthfeel, a clean, lingering finish, and flavor notes ranging from ripe fruits and honey to soft herbs.
