Origin of Sudan Rume #00046 Coffee

Sudan Rume #00046 is a selected batch from Sudan Rume coffee sprouts. Researchers discovered this variety of C. Arabica in 1940. It is believed to be a wild coffee originating from the forests of the tropical mountains inside Marsabit in the Boma Plateau in East Africa, southeast Sudan is near the border with Ethiopia. According to documents, Sudan Rume is a rare variety belonging to the Bourbon family with a vibrant flavor. Its flavor resembles cardamom, sweet spices, and many floral or red fruit flavors.

As a rare variety, Sudan Rume also requires more strict regimes for its living environment and farming process than other types of coffee. The tree yield is also limited but of high quality with large and long seed sizes. However, Sudan Rume is immune to coffee rust. Therefore, this variety is often used in crossbreeding to combine disease resistance with higher yields, for example, the varieties Milenio or Centroamericano.

Everything is done under high supervision and strict quality control at Café Granja La Esperanza’s laboratory, from harvesting to shelling, drying, and packaging. In particular, the wet processing process for a batch of coffee uses a grinding machine to optimize the time spent separating the beans and drying them by machine to achieve a final moisture ratio of about 1.5%.
